Our Team

Kathy Akin, founder and owner of Akin Business Service:

Kathy has worked in the Austin financial, tax preparation, and bookkeeping industry for over 30 years.  Her initial training was in bookkeeping and tax preparation which soon branched into small business bookkeeping, office management, building management, financial management and investment counseling.  Over the first fifteen years in the industry, Kathy came in contact with so many small business owners who were frustrated, and floundering.  Kathy knew that she had the knowledge and expertise to help their businesses succeed.  So, she started her own small business, Akin Business Service, in 1987.   Over the next 19 years her experience grew to include estate planning, trust, business and investment management. 

Josh Whitfield, Tax Manager

Josh has worked in the Austin tax preparation and bookkeeping industry for 6 years after graduating from Texas State University with a BS in Accounting and Finance.  Josh has prepared over 900 tax returns of all types and degrees of difficulty.  As a son and husband of a small business owner, Josh has seen first hand the struggles and success of business ownership.  He can help guide you through the pit falls.
